Gurrie Green Team
The Gurrie Green Team is a sustainability club in its third year of existence. This club was developed as a part of a language arts project aimed at making District 105 more sustainable and eco-friendly. Our mission is to change our daily behaviors in order to reduce energy consumption and create a more sustainable community. Green Team members are local stewards for the environment with activities including composting cafeteria food waste, recycling properly, reducing energy consumption in our schools, and, coming soon, building and maintaining Gurrie Middle School's first organic garden! We have a working partnership with Siemens Inc., a world-wide leader specializing in energy efficient technologies, and Northwestern University to help educate our students and community. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email and let us know.

Maple Lake Cleanup
On Friday, October 21st our Green Team and Northwestern mentors took an after-school trip to Maple Lake to help clean up trash along the shore and in the woods. In typical Green Team/EMM fashion, thirty students volunteered their weekend time towards environmental service. Way to make our planet a little bit cleaner...keep up the good work!
