• International Foods and Nutrition

    Instructor: Mrs. Stavrou

    • 7th and 8th grade, class is a 7 week course. Students will learn about kitchen tools and equipment. They will know terminology for the different tools and they will understand cooking terms. Knowing how to measure ingredients correctly is also a key component to cooking in the foods lab. Kitchen/ home safety along with food safety is also discussed prior to cooking in the foods lab. Ask your children to cook for you and cleanup too! They will use easy recipes which they can try out on their families.
    • There are several Culinary Arts classes such as: Basic Foods and Nutrition, U.S. Regional Foods, International Foods, and Baking & Pastry Arts. Students will learn how to read and understand food labels and basic components of nutrition as they choose and analyze their recipes. Students will also learn how to swap out unhealthy ingredients for healthier ingredients per recipe.
    • International Foods classes will research countries from different continents and complete their research with a chosen recipe to make in the foods lab.
