Degrees and Certifications:
Meet Ms. Julie Folliard
Welcome to the new school year! Teaching is my passion and collaborating with 5th graders at Spring Avenue School is my privilege. I have 30+ years of teaching experience- mostly at Spring Avenue School. I continue to LOVE every minute I work with your kind, hard-working, funny and happy student and cherish being a part of the Spring Avenue learning community with you.
My educational growth is continuous. I hold an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Social Studies and Language Arts from Illinois State University (with a K-9 level certificate), a Masters degree in Education with a focus on Reading Instruction from Governor’s State University and second Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Northern Illinois University. I hold my Type 75 administrative certificate as well. Lastly, I am pleased to share I earned my National Certification in 2008, thus hold the recognition as being a National Board Certified Teacher. As a perpetual student, I enjoy reading literature and attending seminars and professional development based on best practices for education and instruction. I also love music, sports, reading, cooking, traveling, the great outdoors, gardening, the Chicago Cubs, spending time with family and friends…and just about everything fun in life! J
It’s going to be a wonderful year for our 5th graders and I look forward promoting the love of learning with our students. Working and communicating with parents is an integral piece of our plan. Ms. Thomas and I look forward to working with you on our “team” throughout the year to best support our students. This is going to be a FANTASTIC school year!
