Excited to annouce that several students and teachers have decided to participate in Global Read Aloud again this year!

Global Read Aloud is project established in 2010 with one goal in mind “One Book to Connect the World.” Since then millions of students in over 80 countries have participated. This year at Gurrie we are offering three Global Read Aloud titles and students have the option to read these titles during their independent reading time in their ELA classes, Resource class, library time and independently.  Starting October 4th and running for 6 weeks students will have opportunities to connect with other Gurrie students, teachers and staff and have culturally enriched discussions about the same books. Through discussions and shared experiences, hopefully we will make the world a little smaller and open our eyes to the rest of the world. How great is it to know that the same book our students are reading is being read in classrooms across the globe.

The titles being read this year are:

    The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste

The Barren Grounds by David Robertson

    Elatsoe by Darci Little Badger

    Happy Reading and Connecting!
